On their Wedding Day Alona & Valerie Set Sail on an Ocean of Love!
Rarely do I meet two people as laid back and carefree. When we first spoke about what we needed their wedding pictures to accomplish, the message was “candid” and posing was all but out the window.
Which was fine because it’s pretty damn hard to pose people on a boat rocking about in the middle of the ocean anyway.
Yep, I said boat… in the ocean… waves… whales… fathoms… spray… water.
Oh also, one of my clients wanted to hang over the side of the boat for a picture… in the ocean… with waves… whales… fathoms… spray and water all around.
“Sure” I thought, “why not?”.
Immediately flashes of being front page of The Telegram went through my mind. “LOCAL PHOTOG LOSES BRIDE IN OCEAN” it would read with an unbelievable subtitle of “Claims she offered to hang off boat”. Pushing my hesitation aside, Alona wouldn’t let me stop her anyway and whilst assuring me that she could both tread water and swim “pretty good”, she climbed over the railing of our boat to make some pictures of Valerie kicking her over.
Like I said, sometimes things are just ‘a little bit different‘ and this was one of those times for sure.
- Alona doesn’t tear up very often I’m told but there’s definitely photographic proof now. hehe
- Alona’s gift from Val.
- The shoes! Looking sharp!!!
- Alona and Val had a good friend shooting video on film.
- Alona claims she’s not one for the girly make up stuff. Too bad said the boys. :-D
- At Valerie’s house, she was just finishing her make up and hair. Time to get ready!
- The dress, loving the detail in the lace.
- Tie ’em up!
- Doin’ the make up!
- Peepin’ the sneaks!
- Rocking the P+P sneaks.
- Beautiful!!!
- Her mom’s jaw literally dropped.
- This is Jay, he was responsible for clocking the footage and carrying a camera the weight of a small automobile.
- And off to Murray’s Pond Country Club where the music was live and the sky was blue. It was summery and couldn’t of been any nicer a day.
- All done! Married!!!
- Val had to get in a little touch-up. Alona wasn’t totally up for it.
- However, our next stop had made up for it in Alona’s mind. :-)
- A short jaunt around Quidi Vidi is what we set out for.
- Just a short swing around the harbour.
- Make a few pictures.
- Drink some champange in international waters.
- It was a beautiful day out on the water.
- But Valerie felt it was as good a time as any to give Alona the boot.
- She held on pretty good…
- Now we’re out in the open ocean!
- He just kept driving though.
- Thankfully, our captain decided to turn around before our 6 hour tour became a Gilligan’s Island remake.
- And we all laughed.
- “Ha Ha Ha” she said..
- And Val took sympathy and helped her back on. Awwwww….
- Suddenly, we could see Fort Amherst.
- And we even saw whales! No longer were we in Quidi Vidi.
- Back on land, we drove back to Murray’s Pond Country Club for the reception.
- Not before some more silliness. :-D
- Valerie and her father.
- Alona and her father.
- With the big dip!
- I mean, EVERYONE!
- Not to be outdone by her father, Alona attempted to dip Val. This didn’t quite come off so well.
- But it was pretty funny.
- Everyone was dancin’!!!
- DJ Slim kicked off the reception with some tunes on WAX!!
- Dad!
- And last but not least, a little evening snap of the newlyweds.
What an AMAZING job!! Absolutely beautiful, and so perfect for you both… As if I didn’t cry enough on the day of… Happy happy tears!
